Dragon Dynasty has finally updated their website with new movies! Ever since Bey Logan left the company, I was worried about the future of the brand. It’s been a while since they have released anything new, it’s just been all blu-ray re-releases up until now, but now that’s changed.

The first movie to be released by Dragon Dynasty is Return of the One-armed Swordsman.

Here is the official synopsis of the film:

The action-packed sequel to a Shaw Brothers classic, Return of the One-Armed Swordsman is loaded with “more villains, more weapons, more fighting, and more over-the-top action than its predecessor” (LoveHKFilm.com). Legendary star Jimmy Wang Yu (The One-Armed Swordsman) returns to take on an amazing array of unique enemies called the Eight Kings, each with his own signature weapon or fighting style. Director Chang Cheh (The 5 Deadly Venoms) is at his best, creating a masterpiece of “epic scale, deviant villainry and sheer inventiveness” (KungFuCinema.com).

The film is set to release on June 29th.

The second movie set to be released is Return of the 5 Deadly Venoms.

Here is the synopsis as listed by Dragon Dynasty:

In this Shaw Brothers Classic Film, prepare for non-stop action and storyline that is “full of energy, emotion, and some of the best martial arts choreography of all time” (DVDcult.com). A band of four physically-challenged fighters learn to use their disabilities as their most lethal weapons when they stand up to save their town from a demonic tyrant. Legendary director Chang Cheh (The One-Armed Swordsman, The 5 Deadly Venoms) returns combing eye-popping visuals and jaw-dropping fights in this “kung fu cult masterpiece” (KungFuCinema.com, Mark Pollard).

Return of the 5 Deadly Venoms will be available on September 14th.

And finally, The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter will be released as well.

And here is the synopsis:

Sensational training sequences and ferocious battles highlight this epic collaboration between acclaimed director Liu Chia Liang (The 36th Chamber of Shaolin) and martial arts legends Gordon Liu (Kill Bill films), Kara Hui (My Young Auntie) and Alexander Fu Sheng (Shaolin Temple). After his family is ambushed and slaughtered, one surviving brother escapes to a monastery, where he masters bone-crushing pole-fighting techniques and plots his revenge. “Beginning with the intro (a real gem) and continuing through to the bloody finale, this classic tale of revenge is stuffed to the gills with great martial arts action” (Rob Larsen, DrunkenFist.com).

This film will release on October 12th.

Growing up, I never watched any Shaw Brothers films. Because of this, I’m not sure which ones are good, but it’s great that Dragon Dynasty is still alive and remastering films so that fans can purchase them. These movies may not be the best, but this company was responsible for releasing such films as Fist of Fury and Invisible Target, so they are worth supporting.
