The RZA and Russel Crowe Team Up?

by kmiller

I hate the RZA, I really REALLY do. He’s just one of those rappers who puts his name on anything martial arts, or just makes a song for it and calls it his (cough…Unleashed, Ong-Bak….cough.) Anyways, for some reason beyond my comprehension, he’s making a movie. And for some other reason, Russel Crowe will be in it.

The film, titled the Man With the Iron Fist, will begin shooting in December. There isn’t much to go on about the movie except that it is co produced by Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino. Rumors speculate that Crowe will play a villain, but nothing has been confirmed.

I’m not holding my breath for this one until the trailer comes out. And even then, I probably won’t bother with it.

For those who wonder why I hate the RZA so much, here’s exhibit A:

you know doing this kind of thing is really bad.

Just because you don’t like RZA doesn’t mean you need to promote your dislike for him and make others hate him just like you do.

I don’t know much about RZA but all I know is that he composes music for movies not necessary rap music.

    And this comment distrubs me
“He’s just one of those rappers who puts his name on anything martial arts”.
WTF do you mean by he’s just one of those rappers???

The same thing I could say about your blog, you’re just one of those fanboys who writes articles about martial arts.

:/ First of all, RZA is actually a fan of martial arts, he may even be one before you were born or loving them since the kung fu 80s days.

If you are going to hate RZA then I suggest you hate Queretin Tarantino too since he put his name on movies/martial arts and says “Presented by Quertine Turanatino” while doing nothing.

RZA did compose ost for Tom Yum Goong, I do not know the exact tracks he made but I could tell the hip hop kind of track in the movie such as the polic chase Tony bit when he arrived in Aussie. Overall I would say the tracks for Tom Yum Goong were decent.

Checking up on “Eli Roth”‘s filmography, I can tell this movie will suck. However since Quentien Taratino is involve (Kill Bill) movie may not suck. It can be your martial arts version of Shoot Em Up.

And finally the RZA promo Exhibit A example. That promo was to get african americans to watch the movie not promoting for all audiences. Especially the rappers and hip hop lovers is what the promo is aimed for.

The problem I have with the RZA is that he is trying to put his name on something he didn’t have a part in, and takes credit away from people who actually worked hard to do it (like Tony Jaa.) The comment about “one of those rapppers” might have been written a little wrong. I have nothing against rappers, but I just don’t like the Wu Tang Clan in general.

Also, I actually don’t like Tarantino much either, for the same reason. You wouldn’t believe how many people I had to correct and say that he had nothing to do with Jet Li’s Hero. It was a 4 year old movie, and people thought that he directed it. I didn’t like Kill Bill, but I haven’t seen any of Tarantino’s other films.

I don’t care if people are fans of martial arts movies, of course, but I just don’t like when people stick their name on the box and get credit for a movie they didn’t have a hand in. The thing about the video I posted was that is was super cheesy. It just tried to make it look “hardcore.” Also, all they did was shoot reaction shots on a basketball court. In my mind, they did nothing to promote the film, they just wanted to be in on it.

This blog is just that, a blog, and I don’t expect people to agree with everything I say. Sometimes, it’s funner to disagree and see different viewpoints. I’m not trying to convert people over to “my side” at all. I know that both the RZA and Tarantino have liked martial arts films from before I was born, but I just have a problem with their methods.

Anyways, I hope this clears up why I hate the RZA and dislike Tarantino.

RZA is part of the Wu Tang!? O_o
    I never knew that.

But RZA did do some tracks for Tom Yum Goong.

Also part of the reason people who didn’t have anything to do with movies is to sell the movie.
Seriously you think Jet Li’s hero will get noticed in US? With Quertine Turantino the movie did. And as big as America is, I’m surprised by the post you make about martial arts movies finally making it to the US. While small place like UK gets the movie straight forward:/

Are there more martial arts fans in UK than US? or is it to do with distrubition rights?

And about the RZA promo for Ong Bak movie. I disagree with your opinion, it is to do with marketing. It’s to get hip hop lovers to get into the movie, sure the overall advert sucks with the players playing baseketball and betting.

It’s a sad thing to see such an awesome genre go pretty much unnoticed. I work at a retail store, and I’m always suggesting Ip Man to customers. No one knows about it, and very few ever will. I think even though the US is big, there are a lot of stubborn people. You wouldn’t believe how many people are turned off by subtitles. I worked at a movie theater back in the day and people asked for refunds for House of Flying Daggers because they didn’t want to “read.”

In the end, I think it’s a combination of things. There isn’t a big interest for the genre, and most studios don’t take it seriously either. I heard that the UK was getting True Legend in theaters, and yet we get nothing. Even Ong Bak was just a limited release (like NYC and LA.) I hope things change someday, but for now, I’d say there are more fans of martial arts films than in the US. I’d love for anybody to prove me wrong though.

    it’s just weird man.
I mean even in games, US gets more attention to games while UK doesn’t.

But when it comes to martial arts movies, it’s the other way round.

also I’ve been wondering about Ture Legend uk cinema release, as I want to know if it’s full 3D or not.
