Chinese Zodiac Contains a 4 min Long Stunt?
Jackie was recently at an event promoting Chinese wine that is going to be named after him, when he started talking about some key details for Chinese Zodiac. In fact, he wanted to use the Burj Khalifa in Dubai before remembering that it was already done in Mission: Impossible- Ghost Protocol.
Not wanting to be called a copycat, Jackie has changed his stunt, stating that it will take 2 months to shoot and that it will be 4 minutes long for the finale. He claims that the risk level will be just as high as the stunt Tom Cruise performed.
Jackie even went as far as to ask reporters if they truly thought Cruise did the stunt in Dubai. He suggests that given insurance risks, this probably wasn’t the case. However, Jackie assures that he did all of his own stunts, even if he isn’t capable of what he used to be able to do. He said that he used to be able to jump to stories, but now can only go 1/2 a story.
More information reveals that key filming is almost complete and that Jackie and Frankie Chan are handling the editing. The crew will be flying to Vanutau to film at a live volcano before wrapping up in Latvia. So far, Chinese Zodiac has listed China, France, Latvia, Taiwan, and Vanutau as locations used.
I don’t know what else to really say. A 4 minute stunt sequence? That just sounds insane and makes the wait til December that much harder. I’m glad Jackie is pulling out all of the stops, but I hope he keeps his safety in mind as well.
