A while back, I covered an interview with Chuck Norris that alluded to the Expendables 2 getting a PG-13 rating. While it’s something that made me question the decision, it never really bothered me that much. However, it looks like a lot of people were worried that it would detract from the feel of the film and the overall experience.

During a recent interview, Sylvester Stallone was asked about the rating, and his response couldn’t be any clearer:

“After taking in all the odd rumors and hearsay, EXPENDABLES II is an R.”

So there you have it. Straight from, uh, the horse’s mouth. The Expendables will be rated R, just like the original. I’m sure that there is going to be an “unrated” version once it hits DVD, no matter what rating it gets in theaters.

Again, while I don’t care much for blood and gore, it wouldn’t actually affect me going to the theater to see it. But what about you guys? Are you glad it’s R now, or would you have preferred a PG-13 Expendables?

Hi, Kelly. Can U explain to me, please, what “taking in” really means: taking in [attention] the rumors or “taking in” means that Sly heard about rumors?

    Thanks in advance.

According to the source site, the rating was changed to an R, meaning that they listened to fans and their concerns. While it’s hard to say how much of an impact fans had, Sly listened and made the decision to make the sequel an R rated film as well.
