Trailer for Bangkok Renaissance and a Birthday Shoutout
Continuing on with announcements for new films, I found a trailer for Jon Foo’s new movie: Bangkok Renaissance. Why people still continue to put “Bangkok” in movie titles is something I will never know. The film was directed by Jean-Marc Mineo and will release in France on June 13th.
Check out the trailer below:
My gut reaction to the trailer is that it feels a lot like Merantau. I don’t know if it’s Jon’s hair, the elevator fight, or the fact that’s he’s running around the city with a satchel, but it all looks really familiar. I’m not denying the fact that Foo is talented, he’s taken on Tony Jaa as well as starred in Tekken, but I hope this movie has something unique about it.
Next up is a birthday shoutout I wanna give to one of the founders of the Stunt People: Eric Jacobus. It’s his birthday today, and he deserves recognition in helping shift the landscape of martial arts action in indie films. His passion and dedication have helped raise the bar on what to expect from actors and fighters, and that’s not easy to do. While he’s hard at work with Death Grip, he’s worked on numerous projects that have shape him into the person he is today.
Check out some of Eric’s work from his demo reel:
And if you haven’t seen the new trailer for Death Grip yet, here it is for your viewing pleasure:
Happy Birthday Eric!
