Anthony Wong Prepares for His Role as Ip Man

by kmiller

Playing Ip Man seems to be the “in” thing to do, and there will be one more person playing the iconic role. Anthony Wong recently began training in order properly portray the master in Ip Man–Final Battle. Wong will play an older Ip, showing  a different side that what has typically been shown of the person while Herman Yau directs. Yes, the director for the Legend is Born is directing this film as well.

Wong began his training almost half a year ago, and filming will begin shortly. I’ll be the first to say I’m not that hyped for another Ip  Man film, but maybe Anthony Wong will be able to deliver a character that nobody else will. He is a talented actor and he may find something to make is version of Ip stand out.

director of Legend is born directing this?

Anothy is alright, I was quite surprised with his skills in House of Fury.

The Legend is Born: Ip Man was never part of the original movies. Technically, Ip Man 1 and 2 were directed by Wilson Yip and star Donnie, so the Legend is Born is more of a prequel than a part 3.

Of course, some countries jumped the gun and called this Ip Man 3, just like other countries called Jackie Chan’s “Crime Story” “New Police Story” and had to come up with a new title. Ip Man 3 is just called that cause Wilson and Donnie are working on it.

yea I know that the Legend is born is different to Donnie Yen’s IP.
    This one I know:)

I just didn’t know they were making another different Ip Man.

Haha, cool. I know a lot of people get everything mixed up. Yeah, Donnie was right about everyone doing Ip Man. Who knows how many shows have already been done too. It’s just like Wong Fei Hong, to be honest.

That being said, I’m glad we are getting a proper end to the Ip Man story that Donnie and Wilson started. I’m just hoping the 3D doesn’t ruin it.
