Ninja Turtles + the Raid = ?
Now, before anyone calls me out on this, this technically isn’t about a martial arts film. However, it does have to do with a certain martial arts film. We all know that the Raid had a huge impact on the action genre, and there are several films that are already having “tribute” sequences.
Even though people have a lot to say about Micheal Bay’s Ninja Turtle film, (like the origins of the turtles themselves) I want to focus on a more specific aspect. Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Ninja Turtles, has been quoted as saying this:
“From what I’ve seen, it’s easily the best ‘Turtle’ movie yet…We’re talking ‘Raid: Redemption’-style fight scenes; we’re talking about epic ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ sort of effects.”
So….what do you guys think about that? I, for one, think this is a very weird idea and can’t really see how this will work. I’m not even sure who will choreograph the action, but I’m pretty worried about this one. There is no word as to if this movie will be live-action or CG, but I don’t think the Raid’s fighting style will fit the tone of the Ninja Turtles.
Feel free to sound off on what you guys think, I’m curious to know if you are excited or worried this tidbit of info. Who knows, maybe if it does have fights like that, I’ll end up keeping track of this film as well.
