Jackie Chan in Expendables 3?

by kmiller

I’m starting to worry a little about Jackie. Last week it was announced that Rush Hour 4 is on the way, and now there is news that Jackie wouldn’t be against having a role in the Expendables 3. Jackie’s actually stated that he had to turn down a number of things in order to finish Chinese Zodiac. This includes fundraisers, charity events, and film roles. Hear about it from Jackie himself:

Hollywood Reporter Interview

He’s also mentioned this in another video at Comic-Con, but it’s a little longer. I knew that Jackie and Sly were friends, and it doesn’t seem weird that Stallone would offer him a role. What’s weird is thinking about how Jackie would be put in the film. It’s hard to imagine Jackie in a gory, action filled flick (at least for me.) Jackie’s against violence, though he’s done the Shinjuku Incident and 1911.

So…like this?

As excited as I should be for this news, it’s just something that doesn’t seem right to me. Jackie wants to do more drama and less action, so why Rush Hour 4 and Expendables 3? Maybe it would be cool to see Jackie run-and-gun, but it sure would feel weird.

What do you guys think? Would you be excited to see Jackie in the next Expendables film?

I totally agree with you on this, Jackie would feel kinda weird in a hyper violent film like the Expendables but he is the greatest action film actor not to be in it so yh overall I wish him to be in it. Also I want Donnie Yen in it so he can go a third round with Jet Li and for extra bit of flare Chow Yun Fat should don the holsters again.

And I’m asking too much here but Sammo Hung should be in it cause he has become really commanding on screen since I saw him in SPL and Ip Man 2

Haha, I totally wish they would “remake” this in China and we could have all the legends going at it. I think I’ll be happy to see Jackie in the film if he does get a role, and I’m sure Stallone will tailor it to Jackie’s tastes. A lot of the “older” guys are getting attention again, and who wouldn’t want to see Sammo, Jackie, and Yuen Biao all together again?

Who knows, I guess we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed, but the idea of Jackie and Donnie in the next Expendables would be sweet too.

Donnie yen in Expendables would work very well…

If only they made this kind of film in china during the 80s where everyone was at their physical prime. I’ve always dreamed of prime Jackie and Donnie going at it but it’ll never happen. But the Expendables are the next best thing! JCVD baby!

Well they did have a small get together in shanghai series and also in that vampire flick that recently got released with a different name.. forgot what its called now! – but that film had a ‘ok’ fight scene – too much wirework for me though and unnecessarily slowed down.

well it’s not really about Jackie in a violence movie.
The movie is basically casting all badass actors/actresses we all known from past into 1 movie.

I am hoping for a 1 movie martial art film that cast all sick super star martial artists:)

    to me…that is

Yeah, I’m kind of torn between the violence and seeing Jackie play a role. I’m guessing that Stallone will write a character that fits Jackie’s personality, and there could be some comedic opportunities with that. Plus, the Expendables 2 is PG-13, so it might not be overly violent either.

I was actually surprised Jackie was not in expendables 2 . He’s good friends with Sly,Arnie and Bruce so it kinda makes sense if they asked him about being in the series at some point. – Maybe not in a action role but more as a cameo – It snot like Jackie as not done violent films in the past (City on fire, 60s films)

Yeah, a lot of those “violent films” were favors for friends. I’m not sure what he would do in the Expendables. That being said, I’m pretty sure we’ll see him in the third one.
