New Poster and BTS for Once Upon a Time in Vietnam

by kmiller

OUATIV

Once Upon a Time in Vietnam is a movie that has been getting a lot of attention over the past few weeks. While there have been some behind the scenes images that pop up from time to time, there hasn’t been a lot when it comes to videos. One of the most unique things about the film is the costumes, and there is now a BTS video with Wyck Kaosayananda, who was the director of photography.

BTS Video

Also, in case you guys missed it, I’m going to re-post the teaser trailer so that everyone can know what to expect when this film does come out.

Once Upon a Time in Vietnam Teaser

I’m excited to see more, and I’m sure that we’ll learn more in the weeks to follow. Let’s hope that the film lives up to all the expectations.

The B-Team Assembles

by kmiller

For the most part, everyone is happy with the casting of the Expendables films. You have a lot of big names on the screen, and the action never stops. While most of the bigger names have been contacted for roles in these movies, there are a select few that never got the same opportunity to make a comeback.

Well, that’s about to change with the B-Team

B-team1

The B-Team is a film that is being handled by Don “the Dragon” Wilson and Michael Dudikoff from American Ninja. Other names include Cynthia Rothrock and Jeff Speakman. However, there is a huge catalog of names that may be added to the roster as well. They include Richard Norton, mark Dacascos, Billy Blanks, Jerry Trimble, and Loren Avedon.

donwilson2

You might be wondering how everyone will share the screen, and Don Wilson has the answer to that.

” there’s a lot of bad guys and good guys in it, there’s room for anybody thats going to be available. They would only be in for a few days and then out, the ones I listed, we would have to be in New Guinea the entire shoot but the other actors can come and go. There’s plenty of action and the game plan is to get as many guys as we can get in. I literally know everyone of them!’

Rothrock 1

Want to know more about the story? Give this synopsis a read:

Far from the excitement of Port Moresby in PNG, jettisoning skyward is the awe inspiring Volcanic Rim of Rabaul. This Ancient and beautiful place has an intriguing and tumultuous history. Deep in the jungle/forest near Rabaul’s base, a group of archeologist unearth a highly-developed, ancient civilization. Among the amazing relics found, a mysterious amulet is discovered that is believed to hold long forgotten technological secrets. Secrets that could threaten the welfare of the planet. This amulet had remained forever lost, until now.

When world powers learn of this discovery, rogue groups from around the world race to capture the amulet and its secrets. The amulet’s secrets would give the owner great power. The Prime Minister of PNG requests that the President of the United States send an elite team of Military operatives to return the amulet to its rightful place. Rising to the call for action, the President dispatches both an elite team and a backup team of action movie heroes (Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Cynthia Rothrock & more). They enter PNG under the guise of making an action film, when in reality; it is their mission to return the amulet. They are THE B-TEAM and this, is their story.

In order to keep up the facade that the B-TEAM Members Wilson, Rothrock and co are just shooting a movie, they bring their family members along as added cover. While the Team risks their lives; their families discover the extraordinary beauty and sites of PNG. Through various missions, chases, fights, streaks of good luck, streaks of bad luck and treks through the jungle (Shenanigans, etc.) The heroes get close to securing the amulet while appearing to be making a film. The elite team ends up serving as a distraction to the rouge groups, etc while the B-Team-ers make exceptional progress.

Dudikoff

So, there you have it. Personally, I’m excited to hear about this project. Hopefully some of the actors get a second wind in their careers and the action is solid. Something makes me think that the fighting will be better because they won’t have the big budget, but we’ll see. It’ll be fun to see everyone sharing the same screen, even in the B-list arena.

Are you guys excited? Who would you like to see?

Teaser for the Huntresses

by kmiller

Get ready for Korea’s answer to Charlie’s Angels. The Huntresses is an action film that centers around three female bounty hunters during the Joseon Dynasty. The movie stars Ha Ji-won , Kang Ye-won, and Son Ga-in.

Huntresses

If you want to see the ladies in action, check out the trailer below:

Huntresses Trailer

I’m going to go with my gut on this one, I don’t think it’s going to be that great. I’m judging based off of one trailer, but all of the action is very slow-mo and it looks like the stuntmen are reacting to whatever the girls do. I’m sure I’m not the target audience for this one, but at least the girls look like they are having a good time.

The Huntresses will release in Korea in May

Interviews with Jackie Chan

by kmiller

JCPress

While going around promoting Chinese Zodiac, Jackie sat down with Channel News Asia for an interview. In it, he talked about his recent accomplishments as well as how it is to work with him. There are two parts, but I thought they were both fun to watch. Check them out:

Part 1

Part 2

It looks like Jackie runs a pretty tight ship, but that’s also how he gets things done. I guess I’d rather have a person be hands-on than just lazy, and I’m glad that Jackie is doing his part. It’s easy to see that a lot of love and dedication went into the film. I’ll be doing a review for Chinese Zodiac soon, so be sure to give it a look.

New Trailer for the Borderland

by kmiller

It’s been a while since I’ve heard about the Borderland, but it only takes one look a the trailer to make you sit up and take notice. For those of you that don’t know, the Borderland follows an operative that ends up discovering a hidden North Korean bunker.

Borderland-Logo

The film is directed by Mathieu Weschler and stars 5 time world karate champion Seydina Balde. The film is being produced by Bey Logan’s company, B&E Productions. If you want to know what that all leads up to, check out this sweet trailer.

The Borderland Trailer

This movie really took me by surprise. I thought it would be good, but it’s looking to be a very interesting action film. While there are some campy moments, the fights look very well done. There’s still no release date for this movie, but hopefully this trailer will make more people anticipate the release.

Ronny Yu Turns Down Crouching Tiger Sequel

by kmiller

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Poster

So, today’s news is short and sweet. Remember that sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon that was in the works? Well, it looks like Ronny Yu isn’t going to be directing it. He said that he turned it down out of respect for Ang Lee.

I’m actually pretty impressed at how Yu handled the situation. I’m sure that there will be some other director that would jump at the chance to direct the film, and I’m curious to see who it will be.

Ang Lee

Do you guys think Ronny turned it down because he was being respectful, or worried that he wouldn’t live up to the expectations everyone had for the film? Either way, it’ll be interesting to see what happens to the film now that the initial director has turned it down. I have a feeling that whoever it is, they will be compared to Ang Lee’s original, and that’s a pretty tall order for anyone to follow.

Trailers for Dragonwolf and Rooftop

by kmiller

I’ve said this before, but 2013 is shaping up to be a very good year for action fans. No matter what type of film you like, there is something for you. Case in point: Jay Chou’s Rooftop.

Rooftop Poster

This movie is Chou’s second film he’s directing, and it’s blending his two passions together; music and martial arts. I think this is a perfect film for Chou’s fans, as he can please both sides without sacrificing anything. The film also has a great sense of style as well as humor. Check out the trailer to see what I mean.

So, there’s Eric Tsang again! I don’t know why he keeps popping up, but I’m not complaining one bit. Some might not like the vibe that Rooftop gives off, but personally, I’m curious to see how it all works out. The film won’t be released until this summer, so I’m sure we’ll see more as the weeks pass.

Dragonwolf Poster 2

For those that are looking for a more gritty type of action film, you need to watch Dragonwolf. This movie stars Kazu Patrick Tang and it’s shaping up to be a great flick.

Dragonwolf Trailer

Now, I think that a lot of the story was given away in the trailer, but maybe they want to focus on action. If so, it delivers in spades. Kazu clearly knows what he’s doing and will finally be able to showcase his true talents. I’m excited to see how this movie does, and hopefully it won’t fall under people’s radars.

Ninja 2 Finishes Filming

by kmiller

Well, that was fast. It seems that filming for Ninja 2 has officially wrapped. After a short (and grueling) 40 day shoot, everything in Thailand has been completed. Isaac Florentine has worked with Adkins many times, including on Undisputed. While the film was completed very quickly, there is no shortage of action.

Ninja 2 Poster

The choreography was handled by Tim Man, a talented stuntman and choreographer. Also, don’t forget that Kane Kosugi is playing the main villain. This is a movie that I’ve itching to learn more about.

Given the fact that filming is over so quick, I’m guessing that we’ll see a trailer up in a few weeks. I don’t think this movie has a lot of special effects, so expect to see it sooner than later. Mr. Adkins, you’ve worked you butt off for this movie, now rest your body before you take on Randy Couture in Distant Shores.

Lundgren and Jaa Team Up, Jeeja is Bad-Ass, and Expendables 3 Baddie Revealed?

by kmiller

What an interesting way to start to week. I’ve come across several different bits of news, so I’ll condense them down into 1 easy article for you guys to check out. First up is the news that Dolph Lundgren and Tony Jaa are working on a movie together.

Tony_jaa 1

Lundgren let the details slip when being interviewed by about the Package, saying that he will be working on an action-comedy with Jaa. It seems like Jaa is teaming up with a lot of old-school guys nowadays. First it was Van Damme, and now Lundgren? While it could be the same film, I’m a little worried about the “comedy” part of this announcement. I’ll keep you guys informed as I learn more.

Staying in Thailand, Magnolia Pictures will be bringing This Girl is Bad-Ass! to the states.

Yanin Poster

Talk about a literal title, huh? I’ll be honest, I don’t know too much about this movie, except for the fact that it came out in Thailand back in 2011. Maybe that’s why my memory is foggy on this one. I’m sure I’ll check it out when it is released. Here’s a trailer for those that are curious.

Bad-Ass Trailer

Lastly, some more news regarding the Expendables 3 has been revealed.

Sizemore

It seems that Tom Sizemore will be playing the lead villain. It’s pretty much been confirmed that Jackie Chan and Nicholas Cage have joined the crew as well. Nothing has been officially announced yet, but it looks like this movie will be just as explosive and cameo-heavy as the others.

This year is turning out to be strong year for action fans, and I can’t wait to see what’s announced next!

Bonus Fight on Chinese Zodiac Disc

by kmiller

Chinese Zodiac is almost out, but there are still a lot of countries that haven’t seen the film yet (like the US!) While in Korea, Jackie encountered a case of piracy, and revealed some details regarding the official release.

Zodiac Press Pic

“While promoting CZ12 in Korea, a fan asked me to autograph a video. I said that the official one isn’t out yet, this is pirated. When he found out he immediately threw away the video. Sigh, every time I see counterfeits I would be very heartbroken because I don’t want viewers to watch anything that is roughly produced and illegal. Here again I urge everyone to boycott piracy. In the official video I will add over ten minutes of unreleased footage, like scenes that were left on the cutting room floor and my fight scene with Kwon Sang-Woo and a French fighter. They are great. In addition it will also have a lot of behind the scene secrets, like the 8 locations on 5 continents, special effect scene production trilogy process, comparison with the initial set designs to actual constructions. The high quality edition is worthy of viewers’ collection! Thank you everyone!”

I’ve already got my copy pre-ordered and eagerly await it’s release. Are you guys excited about this “unseen” fight? I hope that it was just cut for time, and that we’ll be able to see that Chan magic once more.

CZpromo 2

By the way, those of you that want to get the film should check out Yesasia.com If you haven’t ordered anything before and get something over 30 bucks, you can get 5 bucks off your order. Just type in 5FEBRUARY when you check out. Just be aware that the coupon is only good until February 28th, so get your pre-orders ready.
