Posters for the Iceman Cometh 3D and Police Story 2013

by kmiller

Police Story 2013 and the Iceman Cometh remake are 2 of the most highly-anticipated films that are coming out this year. Thankfully, both of them had posters released today. Check them out.

Iceman Poster

Here is the one for Police Story 2013, which I think is a drastic change in tone for a Jackie Chan film.

Police Story 2013

I can tell that both films are going for something different. The Iceman Cometh remake is clearly going for the “epic” story while Police Story is more personal and gritty. I think that both films will have a big impact in different ways, and hopefully we’ll see a trailer for them in the coming weeks.

Iceman Splinters into Two?

by kmiller

icemancomethB

Donnie Yens 3D remake of the Iceman Cometh has had its fair share of turbulent times. The film has gone over-budget as well as well over schedule, and there are no signs of the film coming to a halt. Producers are looking to figure out how to make up the costs, and there is now news that the film may be split into 2 parts.

Iceman 1

Impact Online states that the split will let the story be told on an epic scale, with the second half finishing up around Christmastime. The crew will be hard at work while the first film is being shown at theaters, not taking a break from production.

Iceman 2

I can see how this is a smart move for those involved on the film, but how in the world are they going to have enough story to carry 2 films? The first film was less than 2 hours long. I can understand if more time is needed for effects in the film, but I’m really worried that it will be really apparent that this is one movie stretched out into 2. Plus, what happens if the first half flops?

ICeman 3

With Special Identity still in legal limbo, I guess some Donnie is better than no Donnie. What do you guys think? Is splitting the film into 2 a justified idea?

Iceman Cometh Shuts Down a Mountain

by kmiller

Donnie Yen’s remake of the Iceman Cometh has had its share of speed bumps, but production is still going along. Donnie recently wrapped filming on the Chingbai Mountain, which the government gave the crew permission to shut down the mountain to prevent tourists from visiting the location for 9 days. Yup, that’s what Donne has the power to do!

Check out this video covering Donnie on the mountain:

And also Donnie vlogging on-site as well:

It apparently takes about 2 hours to go up or down the mountain because of the elevation and number of people involved. This scenes has a very grand-scale battle, and should look impressive when everything is put together.

Donnie states that he will be going to Beijing for more filming. Here are some non-ice-related Iceman images!

I enjoyed the original film quite a bit, and I’m have high hopes that the remake lives up to everyone’s expectations. I don’t know how the 3d will work with the film, but I’ll save that skepticism for when I see a trailer. At least everyone is giving it their all!

Images of Donnie Yen from Iceman Cometh 3D

by kmiller

Some new images have popped up from Donnie Yen’s Iceman Cometh remake. Strange thing is, they channel a little bit of New Police Story (or Police Story 2) at the same time.

Iceman Yen

Iceman Yen 3

Of course, you can also see Donnie eating food with someone…wearing a horse mask?

Iceman Yen 2

Before everyone gets all up in arms, there is a very good chance that the bus sequence is just a snapshot of one part. It could be Yen jumping onto the bus for a split second, and the wires are there for safety. Plus, the character doesn’t know how to ride a bus, so maybe he’s just hitching a ride like a giant horse.

Then again, they might parody JC’s stunt (and I hope they do it in a good manner if they do.) Either way, I’m curious how this movie will turn out.

Seriously, though, a horse mask?

HUGE thanks to reader Danny Ho for bringing this to my attention. I appreciate it!

Images for Ninja 2, 47 Ronin, the Iceman Cometh, and the Huntresses

by kmiller

The year is just beginning, and a lot of films are starting up. Thankfully, I’ve found the images regarding some of the biggest movies that are coming out this year.

Adkins Ninja 2

This image probably goes without saying, but it’s Scott Adkins on the set of Ninja 2. Filming has started in Thailand, and I’m really excited to see what comes of this film. While the first movie wasn’t mind-blowing, I’m hoping that the sequel ups the ante in every possible way.

Next up is a set of images from 47 Ronin. The film was originally supposed to come out in 2012, but a lot of speed bumps kept that from happening. Thankfully, it looks like the movie has not been canned, and a batch of poster images have been released for the film.

UPDATE: Images taken down due to the request of NBCUniversal.

I’m more interested in Reeves’ Man of Tai Chi, but I still might check this one out when it finally releases. The posters look stylish enough, so maybe that will translate well on screen.

Yen Iceman

This one image is of Donnie Yen doing his signature kick for the 3D Iceman Cometh remake. I find it funny how the first image for Special Identity was also Donnie doing a kick in the air. Anyways, this kick looks awesome and I’m sure that there is going to be a lot of action to be had. Not sure how the 3D will work, but I’ll be open to the concept for this one.

Huntress 1

Lastly, here is the first image for a Korean action movie called Huntresses. Apparently, it’s going to be the Korean equivalent of Charlie’s Angels, and I don’t know how I feel about that. The movie stars Ha Ji-won , Kang Ye-won, and Son Ga-in. I might give this movie a chance on a slow day, but the trailer better be impressive for me to get excited for something like this.

So, there are all of the images I found today. What movie are you most excited for? What do you think will be the “big” movie of the year (that we know of so far?)
