So a friend recently posted a link to this article, and I just had to take my own space and vent a little. Before we go too far into the specifics, let’s get the basic information out of the way.

Filmjunk.com has reported that Sony Screen Gems is in negotiations to get the rights to remake the movie, which can be added to the fact that Sony owns the distribution rights for the US. It has also been reported that Evans was offered a chance to direct the remake, but declined so that he could focus on a sequel.
Really guys? You really asked the director of the original film if he wanted to remake his own movie? Why would he even agree to that. Better yet why remake it?

I see this more as a problem with people not wanting to “read” subtitles, which is a terrible excuse. The reason why the Raid is great is because of the hard work that Iko Uwais and the team put into the film. It can’t simply be recast and rewritten and have the same effect. It upsets me that execs simply think that remaking the film will net the same success.

Do you really think you can remake this?
Anyways, I’m sure I’ll have more to vent about when I film the Finishing Blow. Be sure to sound off on how you feel as well.
Special thanks forFilm Junk for the original article.
