BTS for Commando – A One Man Army
There is a chance that some of you have heard of Commando – a One Man Army. If you haven’t, it’s Bollywood’s answer to Tony Jaa. Vidyut Jammwal proves that he’s just as capable as other stars, and he’s not afraid to take on the big names.
Don’t believe me? Check out this trailer:
Want to know more about the film? Thankfully, there have been new videos released that show the creation of the film and the work that went into the project. Be sure to give it a look as well.
Personally, think this movie is equal parts action-packed and equal parts ridiculous. Some of the scenes look silly to me, and I’m sure a song or two will sneak into the film as well. That being said, I’m really curious about what Vidyut Jammwal is capable of and if he has the star power to make a name for himself. He’s clearly very talented and I can’t wait to see more about this film.

Last week I told you about the new Ong Bak video game that coming out. Now, we have an actual trailer that shows us the game in motion, and I gotta admit, it looks pretty good.
There they go again, talking about a new Ong-Bak film that hasn’t been announced. What do you think, is it possible that nobody else has noticed, or they just don’t care? I’m all for Tony Jaa being in new movies, but I think that Ong-Bak might want to retire and let a new series come in. Of course, they can always revamp it like the Fast and Furious films.
Unlike the game that came out for the Protector, this one looks really promising and I might end up getting it. The gameplay looks like its a blend between 2d fighters and action-heavy games like God of War. Who knows, maybe I’ll finally be able to do a video game review?
(Special thanks to EvilDollaR for pointing this one out earlier in the comments!)
Hope you guys had a good week. Thanks for watching these videos!

Remember that Ong Bak game that was supposed to come out? Well, it’s still in the works! Some new images have been released, and they really don’t look that bad.
If you are curious, here is a press release for what to expect:
The official Ong Bak game, Ong Bak Tri, currently being developed by Thai developer Studio HIVE, based on the next installment of the popular Ong Bak movie franchise, will be published exclusively by Immanitas Entertainment this winter worldwide for PC, consoles and smartphones.
Berlin, 19th November 2012 – The Ong Bak franchise started its path to international renown in 2003 with the release of its first movie, Ong Bak, which became an instant international hit and catapulted Tony Jaa, the movie’s protagonist, to martial arts stardom. Since then another two movies have been released with a new feature film currently being developed. Now for the first time the immensely popular world of Ong Bak finds its way to the PC, consoles and smartphones with “Ong Bak Tri”, which is being developed by Immanitas Entertainment’s partner Studio HIVE in Thailand.
Ong Bak Tri features three core elements of gameplay: intense fighting action, impressive free running sequences and highly cinematic quick-time action events. The game itself is presented as a 2.5D side-scroller, with gorgeous graphics running on the Unity Game Engine. One of the most important goals for Ong Bak Tri was to deliver an authentic Ong Bak experience. Tony Jaa has lent his likeness to the game character and the development itself was closely accompanied by the great minds behind the movies, in particular the movie director, Thossaporn Poonnart, and the original creator and master choreographer, Panna Rittikrai.
The game is entering the final stages of development and Immanitas Entertainment is currently working closely with Studio HIVE to prepare the game for its international release this winter. “We are really excited to be working with such an internationally renowned brand”, comments Christian Sauerteig, CEO of Immanitas Entertainment, “we are confident that we will be able to deliver a game that will appeal to both gamers who love great action games as well as fans of the franchise”. Kan Supabanpot, General Manager at Studio HIVE adds: “We are very happy to collaborate with such an experienced company like Immanitas Entertainment. It’s a great honour for our team to work on the first very first Ong-Bak multiplatform game.”
So, a lot of stuff to take in. For example, did it really just mention another Ong Bak coming out? Putting that detail aside, the game will be coming out on consoles as well as PC, so I’m hoping to get my little hands on it. While it’s too early to say how good the game will be, I can promise you it will be better than the Tom Yum Goong game. That was just…bad.

Bangkok Renaissance is coming to the states, only under a new name. For reasons beyond my comprehension, they decided to keep the “Bangkok” part of the title while changing “Renaissance” to “Revenge.” The film stars John Foo and is directed by Jean-Marc Minéo.
Check out the US Trailer here:
I’m just going to go ahead and say what everybody is thinking; this movie pulls heavily from Ong Bak and Merantau. There are a lot of sequences in the trailer that remind me of this, and I wonder why they went this route. I’m sure that the action will be solid, but I can’t shake the feeling that I’ve seen it all before.
Bangkok Revenge will be in US theaters on September 14th.
While we all eagerly await the next bit of information in regards to Tony Jaa, there has been an story going around in regards to a video game with Tony Jaa.
While having an interview with playstationlifestyle, Kan Supabanpot spoke about a new game revolving around Ong-Bak. He didn’t reveal very many details, so it is unknown if the movie will be a period film or take place in a modern day setting. Studio HIVE will be working with Sahamongkol Film International films to bring the project to life, and it has been confirmed that Jaa is on board as well.
Panna Rittikrai will also be working on the project, and it will be released sometime in 2012 to coincide with a ‘yet to be announced’ project. It will be released worldwide, but it is hard to say what consoles it will be on when the game comes out.
The studio has stated that it is attempting to “achieve a much deeper story involvement for all Ong-Bak fans.” The team of 20 promise to “make sure that the videogame will be an inspiring martial arts action experience for gamers.” It should also be noted that this is the team’s first attempt at developing a game, as they typically provide artwork for games.
Okay, I know you guys are probably excited, but let me turn it down a notch to keep you from getting scarred. While this game may be coming out next year, I can’t imagine another film with Tony Jaa in it coming out at the same time. I’d understand if it was a game for Tom Yum Goong 2 because that seems to be a more realistic window.
However, a game came out for the original Tom Yum Goong, and it looked something like this:
In other words, don’t get your hopes up quite yet. That being said, it would be cool if it was a well-done action game featuring Jaa. It will be released on multiple platforms, though they have not said which ones they will be.
