Distant Shores is Cancelled and Images for Ninja 2

by kmiller

Ninja sequel 7

I’ve got some good news and bad news for fans of Scott Adkins. Firstly, it appears as though the film Distant Shores, the one with Randy Courture, will not be going ahead as planned. While details are still scarce, I can tell you that it had to do with the financing of the film. Personally, I’m not too worried about the film since there are so many projects that Adkins is working on. I’m sure that we’ll hear something new from him soon.

However, in order to make some of you feel better, I’ve also found some new images for Ninja 2, which recently wrapped.

What? Still not happy? Well, how about learning that Legendary: Tomb of the Dragon is being scored right now and will have a 3D screening in May at the Cannes Film Market? Like I said, Adkins is always hard at work, and the news of 1 film being cancelled won’t take the wind out of my sails.

Legendary

I’ll keep you guys posted as I learn more, but rest assured that there is plenty more with Scott Adkins to come!

Sorry about the errors in this video, I had to film it late at night to get it edited and converted on time. In fact, I totally forgot to talk about Ninja 2 finishing filming. Sorry about that!

Ninja 2 Finishes Filming

by kmiller

Well, that was fast. It seems that filming for Ninja 2 has officially wrapped. After a short (and grueling) 40 day shoot, everything in Thailand has been completed. Isaac Florentine has worked with Adkins many times, including on Undisputed. While the film was completed very quickly, there is no shortage of action.

Ninja 2 Poster

The choreography was handled by Tim Man, a talented stuntman and choreographer. Also, don’t forget that Kane Kosugi is playing the main villain. This is a movie that I’ve itching to learn more about.

Given the fact that filming is over so quick, I’m guessing that we’ll see a trailer up in a few weeks. I don’t think this movie has a lot of special effects, so expect to see it sooner than later. Mr. Adkins, you’ve worked you butt off for this movie, now rest your body before you take on Randy Couture in Distant Shores.

Scott Adkins Heads Toward Distant Shores

by kmiller

I’m starting to think  that Scott Adkins is a man that doesn’t sleep. I feel like he’s working on something new every time I read about him, but that’s a good thing. The Undisputed actor will be sharing the screen with fellow Expendable actor Randy Couture. The film is titled Distant Shores, and will have the same feel as the Grey and Dead Calm.

Adkins

The movie will focus on two individuals that sail out to commit suicide, but are stopped by the appearance of another vessel. This forces the two to fight for their lives even though they were ready to die.

Couture

Frankly, this could be a pretty cool story aspect if done correctly. I’m not sure how dramatic it will be with Adkins and Couture, but at least the action will be solid. Filming is expected to start after Ninja 2 is done filming in Thailand.

The year is just beginning, and a lot of films are starting up. Thankfully, I’ve found the images regarding some of the biggest movies that are coming out this year.

Adkins Ninja 2

This image probably goes without saying, but it’s Scott Adkins on the set of Ninja 2. Filming has started in Thailand, and I’m really excited to see what comes of this film. While the first movie wasn’t mind-blowing, I’m hoping that the sequel ups the ante in every possible way.

Next up is a set of images from 47 Ronin. The film was originally supposed to come out in 2012, but a lot of speed bumps kept that from happening. Thankfully, it looks like the movie has not been canned, and a batch of poster images have been released for the film.

UPDATE: Images taken down due to the request of NBCUniversal.

I’m more interested in Reeves’ Man of Tai Chi, but I still might check this one out when it finally releases. The posters look stylish enough, so maybe that will translate well on screen.

Yen Iceman

This one image is of Donnie Yen doing his signature kick for the 3D Iceman Cometh remake. I find it funny how the first image for Special Identity was also Donnie doing a kick in the air. Anyways, this kick looks awesome and I’m sure that there is going to be a lot of action to be had. Not sure how the 3D will work, but I’ll be open to the concept for this one.

Huntress 1

Lastly, here is the first image for a Korean action movie called Huntresses. Apparently, it’s going to be the Korean equivalent of Charlie’s Angels, and I don’t know how I feel about that. The movie stars Ha Ji-won , Kang Ye-won, and Son Ga-in. I might give this movie a chance on a slow day, but the trailer better be impressive for me to get excited for something like this.

So, there are all of the images I found today. What movie are you most excited for? What do you think will be the “big” movie of the year (that we know of so far?)

First Images of Ninja 2

by kmiller

Ninja 2 has started filming and I’ve found the photos to prove it! Well, Scott Adkins uploaded some images that prove it, at least. Here are a couple photos with Adkins and the stunt team for Ninja 2.

While it’s too bad that Kane isn’t in the photos, I’m especially excited to see Tim Man on the team. He’s a talented fighter and I’m sure that he will be a valuable asset to the team. If you haven’t seen his work, check out his most recent reel:

I’m sure that more images will pop up as Ninja 2 starts filming in Thailand. Stay tuned for more details as they trickle in!
