Donnie Yen Takes on Vincent Zhao in Special Identity
I know that this has been out for a few days, but I wanted to put in my 2 cents. Donnie Yen was at a press conference where it was announced that he would be collaborating with Vincent Zhao for the first time. Donnie will star, produce, and choreograph the film, while Clarence Fok will direct.
Most may remember Zhao from his role in True Legend, where he proved he was capable of handling elaborate fighting sequences. Donnie spoke about his excitement about working with Zhao:
“We never worked together before, although I really appreciate his talent…Vincent and I will do some great action scenes.”
I’m curious as to how Zhao does, and whether he will be fighting with or against Donnie.I liked Zhao in True Legend, but the movie itself was overstayed it’s welcome. I’m hoping that having Donnie work on the action will mix things up a bit and that the story won’t be as bad.
There is also some speculation going around that Special Identity is actually Ultimate Codebreak, meaning that we may even see Jackie join in on the action. While this isn’t confirmed, it’s still a possibility.
Special Identity is set to release this November.
